I have wanted to create this piece for so long, but, of course, I had to wait until after the wedding. The trip to find the dress was a memory that will forever warm my soul, so I wanted to do my best to capture it in writing.
My best friend from college was traveling home to Asheville, NC and I had to see her. We thought that this would be the opportune time to visit a wedding dress shop! Despite every weather station calling for snow, I left Friday straight from school and only hit a few flurries on the way.
Once I arrived, we went directly to Tupelo Honey which never disappoints!
Because of the snow, our dress appointment was postponed one day which gave us time to play!
The morning before the appointment was a dreamy time of Say Yes to the Dress and hot cocoa.
Walking into the appointment, I knew I wanted a comfortable but whimsical dress with an illusion neckline that did not have a train. This dress was the third one I tried on and I knew immediately it was the one. I absolutely fell in love with bodice and empire waistline.

When it arrived...I am sure the UPS guy thought I was crazy. I basically attacked him to get the box then ran back into the house screaming, "Mama, come look!":
It was a cozy storybook weekend of champagne, hot cocoa, flurries, friends, and the dress.
I couldn't be more happy to have these glowing memories.
Thank you, Vanessa Wood.
