Finally having time to cozy up and write about a lovely day I shared with my mother in Cameron, NC.
Cameron is definitely a charming hidden little gem…not to mention the Dewberry Capital of the world!
We started the day off at Sullivan’s Antiques and Collectibles. Sullivan's is consistently my favorite shop to make purchases when visiting Cameron. They always have unique and interesting glass and fabric pieces that are lower priced. I find the decorative plates and vases I have picked up here become the super-stars of my home decor and my most cherished pieces because I always have the memory of who I was with when I acquired the piece.
On this trip I purchased a beautiful hand embroidered handkerchief and a ceramic golden tomato (figured daddy would have gotten a kick out of it). From there, we headed to McPherson’s Store. This store has a beautiful collection of antique and refurbished/repurposed furniture, as well as lovely linens and china. They also have an amazing collection of jellies, butters, teas, and salsas with all the fixin’s and an outstanding wine selection. As mother and I did a wine tasting (they serve lunch sandwiches also!), the owner shared that each of the wines was from local wineries and was hand selected for their store. She also has a special Dewberry wine made specifically for the McPherson’s Store! The owner was more than a gracious host and my mom thoroughly enjoyed her first ever wine tasting!
We left McPherson’s with a jar of TOE jam (tangerine, orange, and elderberry) and a bottle of wine!
A few more antique stores down and hungry from our excursion, we headed to lunch at the Dewberry Deli.
The Dewberry Deli is worth the drive to Cameron alone. Once the location of the Mule Action in the Old Hardware Building, now recreated as an antique drugstore, the deli has a full lunch menu. They serve the most adorable milkshakes, floats, and drinks. A few of my favorite items on the menu are the Turkey, Cranberry, Brie Sandwich, Orangeade, Gazpacho soup, and, of course, their famous Dewberry Cobbler.
We greatly enjoyed our trip to Cameron! It is a most for antiquers and non-antiquers alike!
